"Easter Eggs" are special hidden features within QuickCrypto - these can be accessed by following the instructions below.

 


 

To create or decode Morse Code using QuickCrypto

* Press 'Clear' button
* Type 'mode:morse' without the quotes in the text box
* Press 'Open File' button

The Encrypt Text Button will now change to say "MORSE".

Any text that is typed into the text box will now be converted into Morse Code when the 'Morse' button is clicked. Morse coded sound will also be output from the system buzzer.

To reset back to normal operation, follow the above process but type 'mode:reset' (without the quotes in step 2.


 

 

To encrypt or decrypt using the Caesar, Vigenere or Playfair (as seen on National Treasure: Book of Secrets) ciphers:

Caesar Cipher

* Press 'Clear' button
* Type 'mode:caesar' without the quotes in the text box
* Press 'Open File' button

The Encrypt Text Button will now change to say "CAESAR".

Any text that is typed into the text box will now be converted into the Caesar Cipher when the 'Caesar' button is clicked. .

To reset back to normal operation, follow the above process but type 'mode:reset' (without the quotes in step 2.

 

Vigenere Cipher

* Press 'Clear' button
* Type 'mode:vigenere' without the quotes in the text box
* Press 'Open File' button

The Encrypt Text Button will now change to say "VIGENERE".

Any text that is typed into the text box will now be converted into the Vigenere Cipher when the 'Vigenere' button is clicked. .

To reset back to normal operation, follow the above process but type 'mode:reset' (without the quotes in step 2.

 

Playfair Cipher

* Press 'Clear' button
* Type 'mode:playfair' without the quotes in the text box
* Press 'Open File' button

The Encrypt Text Button will now change to say "PLAYFAIR".

Any text that is typed into the text box will now be converted into the Playfair Cipher when the 'Playfair' button is clicked. .

To reset back to normal operation, follow the above process but type 'mode:reset' (without the quotes in step 2.


 

Notes on the security of the above historical codes and ciphers.

DO NOT rely on these ciphers to produce encryption that cannot be broken. They can of course in this day and age, be broken relatively easily.
