Product Release & Version History:

Release 3.1P1 (Professional) & 2.1P1 (Home) [14 July 2010]

Minor Bug Fix:

Professional & Home Editions -

  1. QuickCrypto - Hide Files feature - when a Customer had a Windows 7 machine with over 3Gb of memory, QuickCrypto was reporting in error that there was not enough memory to hide files. This has been fixed with this minor release. Thanks to customer "T O'Y" for his patience and kind help in tracking this issue down.
  2. QuickCrypto - Hide Files feature - when trying to hide files within protected Windows folders, QuickCrypto was offering up an unhelpful 'access denied' error message. This has been corrected with a more friendly message that advises how to resolve.
  3. To apply the above two fixes simply download the latest version from this website and install 'over the top' (into the same folder) as the existing QuickCrypto setup. Licensed Customers will not have to re-register.

Release 3.1P (Professional) & 2.1P (Home) [2 April 2010]

Functional Upgrade:

Professional & Home Editions -

  1. Steganography - QuickCrypto can now hide files and text in jpg & gif images and wav and mp3 sound files. This extends the existing ability to hide secret messages and files into bmp type pictures and photographs.
  2. Password Manager improvements. The Password Safe can now hold categories of Passwords to make it easier to split up and manage large lists of passwords.
The Password Safe back-up and restore facility has also been improved.
The Password Safe 'Find' feature has been improved.
Auto Login features added to Password Safe.
  3. A customer/user selected 'banner text' can now be added whilst using the default 'skin'. The colors can be personalised more easily.
  4. Multi-Monitor Support. Customers who have multi-monitors will be able to use
QuickCrypto more effectively across the extended screen real estate.
  5. A quick Hide and Lock workstation feature is added - click one icon and the
workstation's monitor will be turned off and the user logged-out. If the Windows user is password protected, this password will now be required to view the desktop (log back into user). A quick way to foil shoulder surfers or to secure the workstation when leaving it for a break.
  6. Can now quickly shred recycle-bin by right-clicking desktop icon.

Release 3.1N (Professional) & 2.1N (Home) [11 October 2009]

Functional Upgrade:

Professional & Home Editions -

  1. The "launch email" button has been renamed "send email". The message in the QuickCrypto text window will be automatically attached to an email (ready to send) from the default email package in use when this button is clicked. Emails received with encrypted text attached can now just be double-clicked for decryption (with the pass phrase) to take place. The 'copy and paste' features are still available if required.
  2. The "self-decryptor" feature will now ask if the message created should be "zipped" (compressed) and attached to an email ready to send.
  3. The Steganography module will now automatically resize loaded images for display in the picture window. Full size images can be still be viewed in a separate window by clicking the "stego" button.
  4. The Steganograpy module "email" button will now automatically attach the current picture image to an email ready to send.
  5. "Zip" (file compressing) and "Send by Email" options have been added to the CryptoExplorer "right-click" menu options.
  6. A screen display format error has been fixed (occured when upgrading from older versions - but could be manually fixed by clicking 'reset QuickCrypto defaults' from the full menu).

Release 3.1M (Professional) & 2.1M (Home) [3 September 2009]

Functional Upgrade:

Professional & Home Editions -

  1. The look and feel of the software (the screen layout and images) has been vastly improved. However, if you prefer to keep the current setup, this can be still be done with this version.
  2. A new 'On Screen Keyboard' has been added to allow the entry of pass phrases and text without using the keyboard. This prevents any keylogger type spy software from recording email text messages (before encryption) or passwords that are used to encrypt files or emails.
  3. The uninstaller has been changed to check with the user that the encrypted Password Safe details should be uninstalled (deleted) on an uninstall. Some customers prefer to uninstall versions of QuickCrypto before installing a new versions (not usually necessary). This option helps prevent accidental deletion of the encrypted password safe on an uninstall (in case a backup had not been taken prior to uninstalling).
