FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At Last, Some Good News About Data Security.
31st October 2008 – Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

It seems like every week there is another gloomy report of  'Lost Data'; laptops left on trains or in cabs, discs or memory drives containing personal data lost in the mail or stolen from offices,  and as the valuable data held on these devices is rarely protected, any clued up criminal can access the information in a nano-trice. Since the data is seldom encrypted, encrypting data must be fiendishly difficult or devilishly expensive right?  Not any more, thanks to the latest release of QuickCrypto from Cybernescence.

Ed Archbold, Cybernescence Project Leader explains;
“In the past encryption software has been notoriously difficult to understand let alone use, so we decided to design and build a package that would be extremely easy to use and yet still employs world class encryption. We figured only software that is really easy to use WILL get used and to that end it is possible to securely encrypt any file or folder on your PC with QuickCrypto with only a few mouse clicks.”

This does in fact seem to be the case, but surely this relative simplicity means a compromise has been made on security? Ed continues “No – not at all. QuickCrypto uses the Advanced Encryption Standard algorithm that the US Government employs for 'Top Secret' information. There is no way an encrypted file can be read without knowing the password or 'key file' used to encrypt it.”

And the benefits of QuickCrypto do not stop there. As an added security layer there is an option to hide files, meaning if an unauthorised person gains access to your PC they won't be able to see the encrypted files or folders.

There is also an in-built file shredder. Ed Archbold again,
“Many people may not realise that when PC files and data are deleted they are readily recoverable to someone with even limited system knowledge and freely available software. We understood there would be cases when this would be a security risk and engineered the QuickCrypto Shredder to permanently wipe this digital data, preventing unauthorised recovery.”

Other features in the latest release include QuickCrypto's popular, secure email text encryption function and the all new image 'steganography', a fascinating and fun way to send secret messages hidden inside a picture.  The pictures will look and display exactly like any normal picture and the message hidden inside can only be recovered and displayed by using QuickCrypto.

An existing benefit for many customers is the 'Password Safe' – a secure 'vault' to store the increasing collections of  passwords, PIN numbers, ID numbers and codes we all accumulate every time we venture into Cyberspace.  Ed Archbold once again,
“The Password Safe keeps all your confidential information encrypted securely on your PC under one 'master password' or 'key file'. It also lets you quickly access secure web sites that are associated with these passwords and allows easy transfer of the relevant log-in details. QuickCrypto can also generate and remember secure passwords for you (random strings of characters) which are difficult for mere humans to remember and therefore are extremely unlikely to be guessed – by humans or computers!”
